Pfc. Kham See Xiong
In the fall of 1999, a tall, skinny 8th grade boy with an infectious smile first walked through our doors here at Community of Peace Academy. His name was Kham See Xiong, and for the next 5 years at Community of Peace Academy, he brought his energy, joy, and love of life with him in all that he did. Whether he was playing basketball or soccer, singing in the Academy choir, or working in class on a project, Kham brought people together, regardless of their age, or background in life. Kham always knew how to make people laugh and he used his sense of humor to bring out the best in everyone around him, particularly his peers from the class of 2004.
One of these classmates from 2004 was Shoua Her. Shoua and Kham got married shortly after graduation and had three children together. Kham was a good father and husband, responsible and hard-working. In 2007 Kham joined the army in order to serve his country and support his family.
Recently Kham was transfered to Fort Hood in Texas in order to prepare for deployment to Afghanistan. In disbelief and with a heavy sadness in our hearts we learned the news that Kham was one of the soldiers killed in the tragedy that took place at Fort Hood last week. |
 |
Our hearts and prayers go out to Kham’s family – to his parents, Tong Chor and Nou, and to all his siblings, including those who have graduated from CPA or who are currently still students here: Mee, class of 2006; Dan Bee, class of 2007; Nelson, class of 2008; Robert, 12th grade; Richard, 8th grade; Kevin, 4th grade; and Maxy, 2nd grade.
Of course, we are also holding close to our hearts Shoua and her 3 children, and in the coming days and weeks we will be working closely with Kham’s entire family to figure out how we as a CPA community can best help them in this difficult time of need.
It makes no sense that someone so young, kind, and positive would be taken from us. Kham was a force of good in this world. All of us who knew him were touched by him and will carry his joyful spirit in our hearts as we go forward. |
Memorial donations being accepted to support family of Kham See Xiong, St. Paul soldier who lost his life at Fort Hood tragedy
St. Paul, MN – November 10, 2009: Community of Peace Academy Charter School has been named as the facilitator of the memorial donations on behalf of the family of Kham See Xiong, who was amongst the soldiers killed during last week’s tragedy at the Fort Hood military base in Texas.
Kham See is a 2004 graduate of Community of Peace Academy. Kham See left behind his wife, Shoua Her (CPA class of 2004), and their three young children. Kham See was the sole financial provider for their family, and at the moment, Shoua does not have the means to support her children without Kham See. Members of the community are invited to make a financial contribution that will greatly assist Shoua and their children through this very difficult time.
